Happy new year everybody!

Welcome 2016.

The new year opens promising.
All the planets run direct.
A fortunate position to start to the new year you might think…
However, Mercury turns retrograde in the first week of 2016.
In the first weekend of January 2016, the Moon and Mars are in Libra and these two challenge Mercury in Capricorn.
A true economic challenge!

Mars leaves the air sign of Libra and enters the intense water sign Scorpio on January 4, 2016 until March 6, 2016.
Mars in Scorpio loves a challenge and never takes the easy way out.

On January 5, 2016 Mercury turns retrograde for the first time in 2016 in the earth sign of Capricorn. Read more under NEWS.
Mercury runs backwards until 15º in the earth sign Capricorn, where Pluto resides.
All in all, January 2016 is largely a repeat of the second half of December 2015!
In 2016 Mercury turns retrograde four times in the earth signs Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo.
The earthly retrograde periods of Mercury this year show that in 2016 will be largely colored by economic interests.
Earth signs are largely related to finance and economics.

The theme of prosperity and scarcity emerges sharply in January 2016 when Mercury turns retrograde.
During each Mercury retrograde period loss can occur due to carelessness with possessions. Ensure that official documents, money or jewelery are safe.
The first Mercury retrograde phase in January 2016 is connected to the dynamic Pluto / Uranus square. These disruptive forces collide and discourage our progress throughout the month of January 2016.
Fortunately, February 2016 will be a better economic month thanks to the supportive and collaborative strengths of Mars in Scorpio and Jupiter with North Node in Virgo.

Until then we remain in the dark. The government and media gives us a distorted picture about poverty, health financing, vulnerable groups including the homeless, refugees, the elderly, people with mental health problems and addictions and real or perceived threats from extremist groups.

The year 2016 is generally a year of scarcity as a result of climatechange and the creation of sustainable alternatives in the economic and social level.
In January 2016 these themes become relevant.
In the first half of january 2016, the Sun and Pluto in Capricorn are challenged by Uranus in Aries.
This challenge sets the tone of the general atmosphere of this year.

The first ten days of January 2016, despite the retrograded Mercury, are indeed the most promising days. Especially the economy will benefit from this small revival.

The urge to act impulsively during this retrograded period of Mercury increases the risk of accidents and traffic delays, twists or surprises!
Uranus square Pluto is the source of unrest and chaos in recent years.
An exact square between Uranus and Pluto will no longer happen at this time, but the intense influence between those giants is still strong.
Venus is conjunct Saturn with this New Moon. At a global level, peace talks or treaties may be disrupted. In your personal life this may involve heartbreak, a chilly distance and disappointment in the partner both professionally and personally.
All in all, the influence of Pluto, the retrograded Mercury and Venus conjunct Saturn during this New Moon in the worst case scenario lead to domestic violence, terrorist threats or acts of war.
Fortunately, during this New Moon there are some extenuating aspects.
Venus trines Uranus enabling space for new possibilities and love.
The Sun trines Jupiter suggesting happiness, happiness and growth, but this aspect is overshadowed by the influence Uranus and Pluto.
Jupiter will try to overpower or topple situations.
Saturn reaches back to the past, but there is a chance to break free from the vicious circle of fear and negativity.
Saturn trines Uranus is the future and Uranus square Pluto is the past.
The future is further away than the past, but future-oriented and hopeful people can make the evolutionary leap!

In the first three weeks of January 2016 the Sun travels in earthly Capricorn.
Expectations are running high for the new year to achieve objectives and to face societal challenges.
The Sun in Capricorn is cautiously optimistic, but because of the influence of Pluto in Capricorn, it appears that old and current problems need to be addressed before progress is possible.
January 2016 is therefore colored by austerity and prudence.

From mid-January comes the turning point when the Sun enters the sign of Aquarius from January 21, 2016. Life will be booming.
Knowledge, innovation and reliability are the three main criteria for the success of companies en economic welfare.

On January 15th 2016, the retrograded Jupiter is conjunct the North Node at 23º in Virgo.
The same situation can be seen as a collective signpost pointing out the right direction. This conjunct will be repeated on June 21, 2016. Throughout the year 2016, Neptune will be close to the South Node, the opposite point. Neptune shows us what should be released and what no longer works in our society.

On January 18, 2016 Venus forms a square with the North Node in Virgo.
Every time a planet forms a square with the North Node, this can be seen as a cosmic reminder to stay on the right evolutionary track.
It is of the utmost importance that we continue to line up on the evolutionary path we should go.
Disunity only leads to inequality and war.

From January 25th, 2016 Mercury settles again in direct orbit around the Sun, but that does not mean that Pluto loosens its grip.
Mercury conjuncts Pluto and Uranus in the second half of January 2016 and the first four days of February 2016.
This planetary challenge freshes the ongoing controversy over the violation of our privacy by the government and intelligence services.
During this period there is an increase in cyber attacks, whistle-blowers and protests of revolutionary organizations such as Anonymous, revelations about secret missions and activities of economic, political, military structures and hacking of government systems.

The first month of 2016 has difficult start.
Real substantial growth and prosperity is possible when we are willing to work together.

In the coming months it will become clear whether we finally take responsibility to join forces.
